Trestle-Board

Greeting Brethren

We have had a very busy and productive past 2 months.  Two young men have petitioned for the degrees of Masonry and we will be initiating them on May 4, 2010. There will be a light dinner before and we will have a speaker during the dinner. Dinner is at 6:00pm with lodge opening at 7:30PM. We should try and have a good turnout for the young men.

The 49th annual outdoor communication is set for June 26, 2010. We will be having steaks and it will be an open communication. The Grand Master will be there so we are trying to get as many area lodges to bring their charters as possible.

The 125 anniversary coins have been ordered and will be in soon. Thanks to Brother Bill Nickell for getting the coins together, ordered and ready for our 125th and the 50th anniversary of the outdoor communication next year.

We ask that each of these brothers be present at our regular meeting (above) to receive recognition and congratulations for their continued support of our fraternity.

As a part of our regular communication on Tuesday, March 16, Brother Jack Ward conducted a Rusty Nail Degree. Three sojourning brothers, who reside in the Montrose area, attended and one has decided to pursue dual membership. Accordingly, brothers from our own lodge benefited from the refresher on Masonic ritual, grips, signs and words. We thank Brother Ward for his hard work in planning and in conducting this event.

Dinner Meetings

The monthly Blue Lodge dinner meetings continue to be very popular with our members, their families, and the guests of Montrose 63.  It’s a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a “down home cookin” meal at a very reasonable price and spend a few minutes visiting with YOUR Masonic family.  Don’t hesitate to join us and share this special time with your Brothers, family, & friends.

Dinner service will usually begin at 6:30 PM on the 3rd Tuesday of each month, but check the Web Site Calendar page (www.montrosemasons.org) for the actual starting time as it may vary from month to month.  If you’re not attending, you are missing a great time and we are missing a chance to spend valuable time with you and your family.

The May meal (May 18th) will be Chicken Cacciatore, with salad, bread and the rest of the trimmin’s.  A donation of $10.00 per adult serving is suggested; the younger dinners generally eat for a couple of dollars less.

The June Meal (June 15th) A menu for this meal has not yet been suggested or planned, so get your meal suggestion to Chef Nikki or her kitchen helper Bro. Kledas soon so she can start planning and shopping.

Join us June 26th for the 49th Annual “Out-door” Meeting and “Cowboy Chuck Wagon” style steak feed with baked potato, beans, and bread.  Of course, beverages and desserts will also be served.  The cost is $12.00 per adult & $8.00 for children 16 & under.  This will not be a tiled meeting.

The 49th Annual Out-Door Communication

(An Un-Tiled Event)

The 49th Annual “Out-Door” meeting will be held, as always, on the last Saturday of the month of June.  That date this year will be Saturday the 26th.  The un-tiled meeting will be held following a Cowboy Chuck Wagon steak dinner.  Attending Lodges are encouraged to bring and display their Lodge Charter so their Lodge can be recognized and be credited with participation.

Dinner service will begin at 4:30 PM; the un-tiled (open to all attending Masons and Guests) meeting will follow dinner and dessert.  You are encouraged to bring along any family members or friends that you’d like to have attend and share with us this special time and event.

The Meal:               A charcoal fire grilled steak, baked potato, beans, dinner roll & ice cream / Cost - $12.00 per adult & $8.00 for youths 16 and under.

The Time:               Meal service will begin at 4:30 PM ~ an “OPEN” meeting will follow the meal.

VIPs in Attendance:             Our Colorado Grand Master, Most Worshipful Brother, Charles G. Johnson, and Grand Tyler, Worshipful Brother Keith Hoey will be in attendance.   Other VIP Attendees are not known at this time but several are expected to be present.

WEB PAGE

Development of your website continues to progress.  In addition to a fully interactive calendar page that connects into our local Masonic families as well as our state Grand Lodge and Grand Chapter bodies, a new web page has been added for the Western Colorado Shrine Club.  Also, a tab has been added that will call up the latest issue of the Montrose 63 Trestle-Board   Please visit YOUR local “Masonic Family” resource at:  www.montrosemasons.org.

It’s crucial that we hear from our Masonic Sisters and Brothers in order to assure that you are provided with the very best “Masonic Community” information and connections possible. Please call Bill @ 209 - 0170 to give him some more ideas as to how we can better serve your Silver Star 40 & Montrose 63 needs.  Your comments and input are needed and always welcome.  The Lodge email address is:  montrosemasons@q.com

Finally, I think it is significant to note that Montrose Lodge #63 has met the goal set out by Bro. Kledas’ Committee on Member Recruitment. At our communication on November 3, 2009, Bro. Kledas announced our Lodge goal to add five new members during the next twelve months, either by affiliation of Masonic Brothers or by new petitions for membership. As of this date, we have gained two members through affiliation, initiated one Entered Apprentice, and have received two additional petitions for the Entered Apprentice Degree. With your continued support for our fraternity your willingness to dedicate a few hours of time, I am confident that our Lodge will continue to grow and prosper.
